Don't Forget...

The Huntington Beach 4th Ward Hillbilly Derby and Chili Cook Off Committee* is excited to announce the sanctioning of our August 10th ward activity by Mr. Potato Head.  As a long-time spokes model for the ethical treatment of potatoes, Mr. Potato Head was excited to hear that the potatoes used for racing and entertainment will not be on the menu.  He extends his appreciation to all who will be providing chili for the cook off.

While potato racers are encouraged to use skill and creativity to enhance the speed of their vegetable racer, race officials** have announced new protocols to ensure fair competition.  No one has accused two time champion Deven Stephens of unfairly enhancing his potatoes.  However, Austin Walk did note, “It’s just a little strange*** that the same guy has been so dominant in this sport that I so dearly love.  The integrity of potato racing is a major focus in my life.”

All potatoes will now be subject to random testing prior to being certified for the event on Friday.

*Editor's Note: Not an actual committee.
**Editor's Note: Nothing official about them.
