The 1Baptism Program is Underway!

The 1Baptism Program is Underway!

If you were not in attendance at sacrament meeting on Memorial Day Weekend, you may not have heard that the ward has unrolled a new ward family history program which will run from June 1, 2013, through October of this year. Our goal is to "baptize a new ward in heaven in one evening." Each family, or, hopefully, each adult, is invited to submit at least one name for baptism for the dead at the Newport Beach temple.

This program was initially conceived and planned by Bishop Brad Ward. Our new bishopric is in full support of this program and requests the participation of all ward members.

The 1Baptism Program is as follows:

 1. From January through May of this year, ward family history consultants have been practicing their skills at conducting family history research. They will serve as resources to ward members as we participate in this program.

 2. From June through September, our family history consultants will assist you and other ward members to begin or continue family research. All ward members are invited to participate and to enjoy the Spirit of Elijah.

 3. As members generate names for baptisms for the dead, we will post them near the bishop's office. Watch the list grow! Help it grow! 3. In mid-October, our ward will participate in a single session series of baptisms for the dead. We will feel the Spirit of God and know that our families on the other side will be rejoicing. The gates to heaven will be unlocked and our loved ones will be able to move on to their eternal rewards.

 4. God will reward us for our efforts with an increased measure of the Spirit and will lead us on to other good works.

Our next post will provide you with beginning baby steps to get started!
